Read on BLなう!

Apologies for the wait! This came out in the middle of winter break, so we were slower in getting to it than usual. Hope you enjoy! This was a GOOD one 8D

In keeping with our policy of not scanlating licensed material, we’ll be doing detailed summaries of future SekaKoi manga chapters instead of scanlations. There’s no reason you guys should have to wait 2-3 years to see what happens next just because a company licensed the manga, and without ongoing updates like this, your interest in the series is likely to wane, meaning you won’t be interested in picking up those volumes! So we’re doing this as a service to keep interest alive while balancing our desire to encourage people who can buy the manga to do so. We’ll be giving super detailed summaries, complete with lots of images (all the best ones, so you’re not missing any big gems ;)), so if for whatever reason you won’t be able to purchase this when it’s officially available in English, you’ll still be just as informed as everyone else!

When what was supposed to be a quick item exchange between Ritsu and Haitani turns into something much more, Takano finds himself desperate for some reassurance of his place in Ritsu’s heart.

Onodera Ritsu no Baai vol 9 extras
Series: Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi
Author/Circle: Nakamura Shungiku
Rating: PG
Language: English
Download: Mirror 1, Mirror 2
Notes: These are the extras that were released with Onodera Ritsu no Baai, 9 recently. Now, a warning: this is not the entire booklet. The booklet was almost ENTIRELY the manga version of the Valentine’s Day shorts included with the Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai movie…and we’ve already translated those. So we’re not going to redo stuff that we’ve already done, even if it’s a manga version XD; We’ve got enough on our plate for the time being that we don’t really have time to go back and clean and typeset stuff we’ve already provided. If someone else wants to do them, they’re more than welcome!

What this DOES include is: the one bit of new ‘extra’ from that booklet (Ritsu and Takano on White Day, a month later) as well as the short omake Kisa Shouta no Baai 6 and the under-cover comic. Enjoy!

Also please remember: we aren’t scanlating this series in full. We’ll still do these little random extras, but for whole chapters, we’ll be switching to detailed, image-heavy summaries! Novel translations will continue on as planned.

We will still be scanlating the following: Manga “extras” included with tankoubon releases, omake comics at the end of the novels we translate, any extra random comics unrelated to full chapter releases.

We know some of you may feel disappointed with this, but as you’ve seen, we’ve got huge targets on our back for one, and it doesn’t sit right with us to be in “competition” with official licensors for another, so this is our final decision, and we hope you guys can respect it and still enjoy what we do bring you!

Now, get to reading! A lot of huge bombshells were dropped this chapter!

Subs are out! After a year looking forward to it and five months of eagerly awaiting the DVD release, it’s out :D This DVD rip includes the movie (~45 min) plus Valentine’s Day extras for all four couples (~20 min), with English subtitles that can be turned on or off. Best viewed in either VLC or Media Player Classic (so if you have a problem with another program? Don’t comment here :P Just go get one of those very free programs).

File type: MKV softsubs (1280 x 720)
Sub type: Soft English subtitles
Size: 550 MB
Length: 1 h 6 min
Torrent: Available at Nyaa torrents

Will you put up a direct download link?
No; it’s too big a file for us to host anywhere we feel comfortable. If others want to put up DDLs, go for it. Otherwise, there are plenty of seeds in the torrent above so your download should be smooth as butter and quick as a whip!

Hardsubs y/y?
For hardsubs, I’m having a devil of a time getting everything nicely smushed into an MP4 without font glitches; if anyone would like to make one themselves and share here, they’re more than welcome to do so. We’re still trying, but it may be a few hours before we manage something.

Can I upload to _______?
If you share this file elsewhere, please don’t credit us. This is kind of a one-off thing, as we’re not a fansub group and don’t want people coming to us begging us to sub random videos for them :/ We’re credited in the title as “SS”, and that’s good enough for us.

I bought the DVD! How do I get the subtitle file for it?
Just drop us a comment, and we’re happy to give you the subtitle file alone (v. small) to use with your DVD so you can enjoy your purchase to the fullest. However, as a caveat, I haven’t personally been able to get my DVD to play nicely with the external subs, so I can’t guarantee it’ll work (I’m pretty convinced that the stylization of the subs is messing something up). You may have better luck, though!

This looks great!! Where can I get a copy?
Amazon Japan (DVD/BD)
CD Japan
HMV

And probably other places too! Remember to check your region before purchasing!

Pre-order Volume 9 (Special Animate Limited Edition) of Onodera Ritsu no Baai @ Shoptember!

http://shoptember.strawberrywine.org/product/pre-order-sekai-ichi-hatsukoi-onodera-ritsu-no-baai-vol-9/

This special edition of the newest manga volume (on sale September 1) comes with a never-before-seen-manga booklet (like Volume 7) plus a rubber cellphone charm featuring Takano and Ritsu.

We’ll be taking the first 20 orders, so get yours in soon! Remember that this manga is in JAPANESE (with furigana); for the English version, you’ll have to wait for SuBLime to release, apparently :P

Please hold all questions about our intentions regarding manga scanlations in the wake of licensing for now as we discuss how best to proceed. Just take heart that an official version is coming soon to a bookstore near you!

The Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai movie goes on sale August 29, 2014, and is already up for preorder on sites that ship internationally like Amazon Japan (bluray, dvd)

Please note that the DVD is Region 2 (will not play in the US), while the BluRay is Region 1/A (WILL play in the US); make sure to check your country code before purchasing, unless you have a region-free player!

Will you be subtitling this?

Yes! We’re planning on doing so and expect to have the subbed version out very soon after the DVD is released. It will be released as an AVI hardsub.

So no softsubs?

To encourage those with the available funds to help support the franchise, anyone who provides proof of purchase (like a receipt, or a pic of yourself holding the DVD lol) of the DVD/BluRay will be freely given the standalone subtitle file. This will be a relatively small file that you select when playing the DVD in a player like VLC that will automatically append the subs to the video as you watch :) If you’ve gone through the trouble of purchasing the DVD, after all, we want to help you enjoy it to its fullest!

Can we use your subtitles to sub in our own language?

Yes and no…kind of? If you want to just eyeball the screen and translate the text you see in our AVI hardsubbed version and then time and encode your own non-English version using a raw file you got somewhere, or block out our subs and paste your own over them…have fun. We won’t try to stop you (mostly because we can’t).

If you would like access to our ALREADY-TIMED subtitle file (the one we give anyone who purchases the DVD), where all you have to do is just change the English text in the file to your own language and VOILA instant subs, you’ll have to do as everyone else does and provide proof of purchase. Just our way of trying to give the movie a few more sales. It’s also a pain in the butt to time these things, and the movie isn’t super short, so we’d like others to have to do a little work in this case :P

So this means that at the end of August, we’ll get: New Onodera Ritsu no Baai, new Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai novel canon, and Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai movie! August-September is gonna be pretty darn awesome XD

There’s some HUGE movement in the works for Nakamura-sensei and Abe-sensei!

[translated from the source]

We’ve just learned that the shoujo manga magazine Emerald, featured prominently in the manga Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi, is going to actually be published for real. This project will see the actual publication as a real magazine of Emerald, the top-selling shoujo manga magazine released by Marukawa Shoten, the fictitious publishing house that forms the setting of Nakamura Shungiku’s popular manga-turned-anime/movie Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi. It will be published August 2014 as a special edition of Kadokawa Shoten’s Ciel.

The concept is: “I can read both BL manga AND shoujo manga?! Best-in-history★super extravagant magazine for women!!” This magazine will subsequently host full-time Nakamura Shungiku’s Junjou Romantica and Sekaiiichi Hatsukoi and Abe Miyuki’s Super Lovers and Hakkenden, which have received irregular serialization thus far; these four titles will be published every issue, now.

Further, this first issue will be packed to the gills with content, publishing 2 chapters each, with more female-oriented publications planned.

The first issue (the summer issue) will feature Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi ~ Onodera Ritsu no Baai, a special compilation of “Nakamura Shungiku’s 5 works” and “Abe Miyuki’s 2 Works”, as well as a preview DVD for the Hybrid Child anime.

This first issue will include, according to the cover:

  • Onodera Ritsu no Baai (manga)
  • Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai (novel) (yessssss more Trifecta already!)
  • Junjou Romantica (manga)
  • Junjou Terrorist (manga)
  • Hybrid Child anime promotional video
  • Super Lovers (manga)
  • Hakkenden (manga)

AND MORE. This means works by Nakamura and Abe will be published FOUR TIMES A YEAR (seasonally; presumably at the end of February, May, August, November), all at once! No guarantee of WHICH cases/couples of Nakamura’s will get published, but this means you can 100% expect new Nakamura and Abe material every three months, instead of waiting in vain every two.

Thoughts??

[LICENSED BY SUBLIME, 07/2014]

Living in Japan, we at September Scanlations had the great pleasure of being able to go see Yokozawa and Kirishima’s movie over the weekend, and because we’re all about sharing our experiences with you guys, I’m here to give a short review of the movie as well as answer any questions readers might have. It’ll be several months before the DVD is released, and it’s nowhere near popular enough that you can expect a CAM, given that Japan is quite strict on those sorts of things.

But first, though, some goodies!

Download a copy of the pamphlet

The pamphlet is gorgeous and full-color, complete with interviews with Kirishima and Yokozawa’s seiyuu as well as Kita Shuuhei (who sang the OPs for the anime as well as the two movie-only songs), so download it and gawk!

Coming up later will be some new translations and scanlations as well; viewers were given a cute little booklet full of new material (and old), which included a new Trifecta comic as well as a continuation of the Halloween short from several months back. Look forward to that!

I’ll stick the details behind a cut, so only venture back if you feel like it. Let’s get started! Continue reading →
