Notice about Otokogokoro

Hey guys!

Just to clear up some confusion here: Kanda Neko’s work depicting the story of Saki and Jun, which we’re publishing here as ‘Otokogokoro’ is split up over a series of three books: Otokogokoro (2 chapters), Koibitogokoro (6 chapters [4 chapters and 1 split into 2 parts] + omake), and Koigokoro (2 chapters + omake).

Despite the fact that these chapters show up in different volumes, we’re calling the entire series ‘Otokogokoro’, because it’s just easier that way. This series is not like the Mujihi na~ series where each book is more or less self-contained, with its own storyline separate from the others. There is nothing separating these three books other than seemingly arbitrary decisions on which chapters to include where, so there’s no real ‘reason’ to confuse readers by splitting them up, we decided.

However, whoever’s been kindly updating our mangaupdates profile for us doesn’t seem to have realized this is what we’re doing XD; and has labeled these previous releases as chapters 3 and 4 of the book ‘Otokogokoro’. While yes, that’s what we’re calling them, that’s not what the chapters are actually (you can even see we started using a new cover—the one from Koibitogokoro—for chapter 3), and it makes it seem as if we’ve done the actual 3rd chapter that comes in the book Otokogokoro (we haven’t; that’s a completely unrelated one-shot). This could mislead others who might want to do those other one-shots in Otokogokoro into thinking those stories have been done, when in fact they have not.

So in other words: please be more careful when you update our mangaupdates page, guys XD; We’ve been trying to correct the issue, but every time we do, someone goes back in and UN-corrects it :P We appreciate you being vigilant and on top of things, but in this case, you’re doing a bit more harm than good XD;

Peace out :D The next chapter will be a two-parter!

  1. I’m so glad to hear that this series is a bit longer than Cherry Poppers! I was starting to think that it was going to be just as short and well.. disappointingly so. Thanks for the clarification!

  2. what book I star to read FIRST?

  3. sindy,

There is no ‘book’ to start reading if you read our scanlations. Everything is under one roof as ‘Otokogokoro’. Just start with chapter 1 like normal.

If you purchase the Japanese books to read, you’ll start with Otokogokoro, then Koibitogokoro, then Koigokoro.

  5. so let me get this straight. the first two chapters you released were from the otogokoro compilation or was that koibitogokoro already? thanks!

  6. midnight,

Chapters 1 and 2 are from the actual book ‘Otokogokoro’; chapters 3 and 4 are the start of “Koibitogokoro”—hence the different cover :)

But we’re labeling it all ‘Otokogokoro’ in our own releases to emphasize that it’s all part of the same storyline.

  7. Hrmmm, isn’t there some kind of way to note that in the summary so that the accuracy of the volumes are maintained but the “otokogokoro” label is consistently on everything related to this? That way everyone is happy =D

  8. That’s sweet of you guys. =3 Thanks for doing so. It would’ve been quite confusing for us readers. And if/when we happen to buy the manga, we might end up frustrated without this clarification. Thanks again~

  13. epistasthai,

also, in the future, will you consider doing the other chapters? I like this mangaka, and am so happy you introduced me to her. Thank you!

  14. epistasthai,

*Probably* not, as while her art is nice, the story quality of the others isn’t quite what we’re used to bringing.

  18. Althorugh you said it on the release of the 3rd chapter, you have to came out and do so again…I am really sad the others unrelated chapters won´t be translated from you, since I really like your work on everything you give us…

  19. cacc,

One of the reasons people think so highly of our group is the fact that we give HQ, accurate scanlations of engaging stories. If we did everything that was pretty regardless of content, the quality of our scanlations would go down.

  20. I’m sorry for asking again now >_<'

but does this actually mean that you

    1. did Otokogokoro

    2. are now doing Koibitogokoro

    3. but will NOT do Koigokoro?

      (Quote)  (Reply)

  21. bronakopdin,

    No, it means:

    1) We did part of Otokogokoro (the Saki and Jun parts)

    2) We are now doing Koibitogokoro (this entire book is all Saki and Jun, so we’re doing it all)

    3) Will do Koigokoro next (the end of Saki and Jun’s story is here, as well as some unrelated one-shots; we’ll again only do Saki and Jun’s parts)

  22. Hahahhaa what the heck, what a confusing thing to do. XD I guess it does ensure that readers buy all 3 books….

  31. Keishota,

We have said several times on this specific point and many, many times in general before: we don’t scanlate one-shots, so no, we won’t be doing those other pieces.

  33. Oh, I see! Thanks for explaining, I tried looking it up myself but it got more confusing after a while~ This post has been a big help!

  34. bronakopdin,

No. I am pretty sure it means that they have only done chapters 1-2 of Otokogokoro, which are the story of Saki and Jun, and moved on to do the ‘Saki & Jun’ chapters in Koibitogokoro. Then they will do the ‘Saki & Jun’ chapters in koigokoro. There are other chapters in these volumes, but they are not about Saki & Jun. Correct me, anyone, if I am wrong.
